How do you know what caused the crack in your building, and what type of fix should you use? It might be structural loads, thermal expansion, moisture-related movement, or foundation issues. Evaluation of the types of cracks you might find in a masonry wall and simple procedures used to diagnose the cause of cracks will be covered. This seminar will concentrate on crack repair, and the different methods available to make sure you have the right solution to your cracking problem.
1. Clarify the different types of cracks that might be found in masonry walls
2. Explore brick masonry expansion, and concrete block shrinkage, and the different types of movement joints for accommodating expansion and shrinkage
3. Assess different methods to monitor masonry cracks to determine if a crack is active or dormant
4. Examine common crack repair methods and determine when to use each type of repair
