This program is a detail oriented exposure on masonry inspection. It starts with the basic materials of clay brick and concrete block, mortar, reinforcing steel and grout and shows material and construction requirements in conformance with the code. Excerpts from the IBC, MSJC and ASTM as related to masonry are integrated throughout the entire program. The primary reference is the Reinforced Concrete Construction Masonry Inspectors Handbook, 6th ed. co-published by the Masonry Institute of America and the International Code Council. This book is a test reference for the Structural Masonry Special Inspectors exam. This is the same program that has been modified and adopted by The Masonry Society for their masonry inspection seminar. The Masonry Institute of America has presented this program nationally since 1996.
