Many non-construction industries have systems in place to detect productivity problems and cost overrun within minutes of the issue. The construction contractor typically waits for the weekly production or monthly job cost report to detect a problem; the result is it is often too late to correct the error. Identify alternative processes for “shortening the fuse” on the control system in this seminar. The processes presented will teach attendees how to monitor project performance, complete a project on time and on budget. In addition to critiquing current systems with the instructor, attendees will be given action plans to implement more effective project control systems.
1. Identify the five components of an effective control system
2. Determine how to use your current system more effectively
3. Observe how the control system can be integrated with the estimating and scheduling system
4. Recognize vital signs of project overruns and problems
